2018 is almost winking at us and with the coming of New Year; new strategies are going to surface in marketing. Social media marketing came up in 2008 (or when it got immense heed) and today its 2017 and there have been enormous revolution in SMM.
Facebook came online in the year 2008. Although that was the time when not many people recognized what it is, but soon after, it was every person’s home. When it first came in sight, there were no major algorithm governed content, and everyone such as individuals as well as companies was free to post their content. However, over a considerable period of time, FB was sectioned in many parts and the marketing was one of the major offering by this social media platform.

When the semblance of algorithms was introduced in Facebook, the organic reach of the post was radically decreased. In an honest opinion, the initial times of Facebook were much more result generating because the organic reach of the content has been dramatically decreasing ever since. These algorithms were introduced to help the marketers in getting their work done smoothly but in a way, it has constrained the actual reach.
In the upcoming year, Facebook will be introducing new split News Feed. This algorithm is expected to completely drain the business page posts from the news feed of the users.
Now coming to Instagram, this one by far is all about the images and video uploads. However, its engagement rates are shifting and there is an institution of new algorithms which is expected to hamper the fandom of this particular social media platform as well.
The channels like Facebook and Twitter came online for a sole purpose and that was to entertain the audience. However, the interest was shifted from entertainment to marketing. In a way, all the new algorithms are reinitiating the buried purpose by making Social Media solely for entertainment.
Is the Job of Marketers At Risk?
But without any doubts, this is going to put the jobs of the marketers in jeopardy. But there can be some saviour methods that must be followed if you wish to survive. Well, at first, it is suggested to open a new social media channel. Now this can go in two conventional ways such as, either it can be trashed on very next day due to the competition or your website can become talk of the time after a while.
The only mantra is to feed people exactly what they want. Over the time, marketers have literally sabotage the credibility of the social media platforms by uploading stuff that no one cares about. You have to be very careful on what you give to the audience and in what quantity. Just concentrate on value driven content that can impact on the audience. That’s the only getaway in Social Media for now. Without your knowledge, your brand will be whooshed in oblivion if you make any wrong move in social media marketing.
