WhatsApp starts "story" feature

Recently WhatsApp rolled out their own take on the "story" feature that all social media platforms have introduced. A little late to the party as Facebook introduced the feature just a few days before.
The feature is said to be almost identical to that of Snapchat and Instagram stories, the only difference being that all the stories would have end-to-end encryption like WhatsApp messaging.
The represents a large shift for the company as it has traditionally relied solely as being a texting app and a communications app. By introducing this feature they are allowing users to consume content, thus opening the gateway to them eventually allowing adverts on to the app.
